The Elizabethan/Jacobean world view – Back in the Elizabethan times, they believed in strange concepts such as Aristotle’s solar system where all planets and the sun revolved around earth, and the great chain of being which coincides with Aristotle’s world view of everything revolves around humans and shut down all over . The great chain of being goes as follows:
The divine right to rule – The right was believe to be impose on kings by the god and that he can not be ruled by any other human being as long as the god says so. This puts the king above all man
The state of England under Elizabeth I and James I – During the Elizabethan era, it is said to be the ‘golden’ age of England where entertainment such as literature, music and art were beginning to get widespread throughout England with Shakespeare at the forefront of this expansion. During both of these time periods, war was also rife and is shown in almost all of Shakespeare’s plays as a climax due to the large scale of these wars being between country vs country,
Shakespeare’s education and additional plays – Shakespeare has a plethora of other tragedies such as Macbeth, Hamlet and Romeo & Juliet. All of Shakespeare’s tragedies play out the same; they all follow the story of a tragic hero on the way to his down fall.
